Summary The Sr. Buyer – Indirect Procurement will work in conjunction with IT, Accounts Payable, Operations, and other requisitioning departments, on the acquisition of various materials and services, with the support of various Sourcing Category managers on Supplier Strategy.


This position is responsible for the execution of the acquisition of materials and services, via Purchase Order, Invoice to terms, or Corporate credit card, while ensuring compliance to both Sourcing and Company policies.  Promote the use of Purchase Orders, where possible, via the SAP Ariba Procurement Platform, while service as the Sourcing Process Expert for Ariba. 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Handle the entire ordering process, from the purchase requisition by the demand side to the resolution of invoice discrepancies
  • Company P-Card administration
  • Sourcing process owner for Procure to Pay platform – Ariba.  Onboarding and training of requisitioners and suppliers
  • Work with IT and Accounting on identification and resolution of technical issues within the Ariba platform, or related processes
  • Implement and maintain supplier on-line catalogs within the Ariba platform.
  • As required, partner with the requirement owner to identify the most suitable supplier based on cost, quality, delivery, and service on the initiation of the order
  • Search for new potential suppliers in consultation with the Sourcing Manager, and support local strategic supplier initiatives
  • Obtain quotations, monitor quotation returns and evaluate quotations commercially and, if necessary, technically
  • Clarify and negotiate prices and payment conditions or other general conditions for ordering with suppliers as required
  • Follow-up of order confirmations and clarification of discrepancies with requesters and suppliers
  • Monitoring of deliveries by means of reminder procedures and follow-up of deadline and quantity deviations
  • Monitoring of procurement volumes and identification of potential for improvement by bundling requirements or selecting alternative suppliers
  • On a case-by-case basis, assumption of special tasks, such as system or process changes, data collection for 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business (preferred)   
  • 3 to 5 years experience in tactical procurement or requisitioning.
  • Experience with SAP S4 / Ariba (preferred)
  • Project Management experience
