Summary

 

Responsible for regulatory compliance aspects of gas New Product Development (NPD) and current production in US, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand, including design requirements / review related to associated global standards and product safety, entering of technical information into data label system, assisting with creation of collateral material, and participating in pre-agency testing and review of associated data.  Serve as main point of contact with test labs and notified/certified bodies globally. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage global gas grill testing/certification globally through collaboration with EMEA and Asia Product Compliance Managers.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Product Management to establish best in class processes related to gas grill design/development/certification.
  • Interpretation of associated product standards to aid in the identification and documentation of design requirements in the NPD process and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure associated R&D testing protocols being used correlate with the various global standards/regulations/directives and material requirements.
  • Act as liaison between test labs and R&D to help ensure consistency in test methods between organizations.
  • Responsible for all compliance aspects of NPD within areas of responsibility, from concept to certification, including capturing all details of agency testing via a reliable tracking mechanism.
  • Prepare and maintain all required paperwork for global product compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain global products requirement documents in collaboration with R&D.
  • Participate in pre-agency testing as a resource for R&D.
  • Review all pre-agency test data with R&D Lab Manager, Project Engineer, and Product Management with respect to the various global standards before any samples are shipped to test labs.
  • Provide compliance related product support to Product Management, Technical Communications, Creative Services, QA and Engineering.
  • Attend meetings (i.e. project team), providing regulatory expertise and direction for products and relating products to regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of content of all test reports and certificates issued by global test agencies.
  • Provide regulatory documentation to Weber subsidiaries (as required).
  • Review / approve deviation requests for gas train related components.
  • Accompany auditors from certification bodies that audit Weber production facilities as part of our certification. (CSA, Intertek)
  • Ensure that all required information (i.e. warning statements, consumption data, injector sizes, etc) is current in all affected product literature and that all data, product, and carton labels are accurate.
  • Responsible for ensuring all product literature, data, product and carton labels are reviewed and updated and R&D / Product Management are advised of the change and potential impact whenever a revision to any global standards is published.

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, 7+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with regulatory processes related to and launching mass-produced consumer electronics/electric appliances.
  • Experience in a fast paced, multi-project, manufacturing environment preferred.  Consumer product experience a plus.
  • Understanding of applicable regulatory standards in relation to our products and requirements to obtain global product certification, including, but not limited to, ANSI Z21.58, ANSI Z21.89, NOM-010 and AS/NZS 5263.0 / 5263.1.7.

 

Base Salary Range: $119,380-$134,620
