How will you impact the team-

At Weber R&D we are developing the next generation of grills, smokers, griddles, and accessories. In this test kitchen, real world cooking directly impacts the design of our products.  We have high expectations on your attention to detail and process consistency. You will lead or execute test cooking on Weber and competitive products.  This role is a blend of Engineering and Culinary.  Your test cooks will confirm engineering measurements that the products grill, smoke, steam, bake, or roast as intended.


What will you do-

Tests will be conducted indoors and outdoors on units that use gas, charcoal, wood pellets and electricity for fuel.  During the tests you will document the food and cooking conditions.  After each test, you will report the results to the product development teams. 


       Essential Functions:

       Part 1: Engineering

  • Procure and prepare food for cook tests.
  • Cook food in accordance with test procedures.
  • Create new test procedures and methods to align with new product innovation.
  • Identify and report cooking related issues such as burner irregularities, uneven cooking, or grease management problems.
  • Collect written and photographic data on test results.
  • Write short test reports on the cook results and communicate the results to product development teams.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and inventory of the test kitchen.
  • Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.

      Part 2: Culinary

  • Develop or review culinary content for Weber.
  • Support the development of culinary requirements for next generation products.
  • Collaborate with and support Weber’s Grill Academy and Grill Masters around the world.
  • Teach engineers about grilling and food safety.
  • Trains and coaches Culinary Assistants and others about Test Cooks and Lab Procedures

           Education/Work Experience Expectations:

  • Knowledge of kitchen practices and basic data collection.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • Culinary Training, Vocational training, associate degree, or Bachelor degree are plus and will be compensated accordingly
  • Knowledge of safe food storage and handling techniques.
  • Can read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Must have good communication skills:  Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Presents numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to use Microsoft software products to write/edit test reports.
