Summary

 

Directs and coordinates all Security activities throughout the Palatine Complex.  Works with all department managers to assist them in meeting their respective goals.  Works, trains, and directs security personnel to achieve minimum of overtime while maintaining a safe and secure working environment for all employees.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned

 

  • Must be able to perform all the functions of a security guard and security coordinator.
  • Assists in the planning of day to day operations of the security department.
  • Prepares manpower assignments (schedules) supervises and coordinates with all sections of the Huntley/Elgin complex to insure all non standard work times have sufficient manpower coverage.
  • Completes special assignments as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Conducts investigations as assigned.
  • Supervises, instructs and trains subordinates in the day to day operations of the security department,
  • Keeps the security manager apprised of on going projects.
  • Ensures all personnel act in a professional manner and adhere to company rules and regulations while building a team.
  • Supervises orderly shift changeovers.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures (surveillance, camera usage, investigations, detecting suspicious persons/incidents, etc.)
  • Devotes 80% of his day supervising other security guards, their post, and their day to day performance and working with other department managers.
  • Responds to incidents, and resolves problems or requests.
  • Works closely with all departments to provide a continuous flow of information.
  • Ensures the treatment of all people and personnel is fair.
  • Provides praise to denote good work when appropriate.
  • Provide and recommend opportunities of growth for department personnel through delegation.
  • Train and orientate new department members and give a review of their performance to the Security Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

  • Oversees the day-to-day shift operations;
  • Act for the Security Manager when the security manager is not available.

Education and/or Experience

 

High School Diploma or equivalent; Basic computer knowledge; Above average annual review; working knowledge of company and departmental policy and procedures; ability to make decisions without direct supervision; give proper direction to staff members and foster an overall Security Department Team atmosphere.

 

Language Skills     

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write reports and correspondence both by hand and via the computer; check the reports from the shift for form and content (who, what, when, where how and if known why); complete initial investigations, beyond the initial report. 

Mathematical Skills

 

The ability to add –subtract –multiply and divide for making work schedules will need to know how many guards are  needed at what locations

 

 

Reasoning Ability

 

Work with little or no direct supervision; prioritize information/incidents as it relates to the goals and mission of the security department and the company.  Interact and communicate in a positive manner with people of diverse backgrounds both inside and outside of the security department; make decisions based on the information known at the time and if requested to articulate that decision.

 

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully the individual should have a knowledge of Weber computer operating system such as but not limited to PC Windows Word ,Excel, Power Point Access outlook.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

  • Must become CPR and or First Aid Certified – have and maintain a Valid Driver’s License.
  • May be necessary to undergo EPA training as required by specific position or building.

Salary Range: $60,000- 70,000
