Summary

 

Plan and coordinate the quality assurance program at one of the Weber facilities. Work with Manufacturing, Purchasing, members of Quality, R&D and Suppliers for Palatine, Huntley and Summit Appliance to support the quality department.  This position is responsible for ensuring continuous production of products that are consistent with company standards and the continued improvement of this process to increase reliability and reduce overall costs.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned

 

Performed personally or through subordinate supervision:

  • Develop, maintain and analyze statistical data to determine compliance of present standards for quality of received materials and finished goods.
  • Create, implement and maintain inspection criteria for receiving inspection, in-process audits and finished goods.
  • Generate reports, internal and external business correspondence and quality procedures.
  • Coordinate quality objectives with the production department to maximize product reliability, productivity and to reduce costs.
  • Develop subordinates skills and overall capabilities within the department and assist in the development of the skills and capability of the manufacturing department.
  • Provide inspection and auditing services throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Work with suppliers when needed to insure the quality of all purchased parts and materials.
  • Implement quality assurance training programs within the department and assist in the overall training of the quality organization.
  • Participate in activities with various departments to support quality related objectives.
  • Meet quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Support a strong Dock to Stock process with the assistance of Supplier Quality, Purchasing and the Production departments.
  • Work with other Quality Managers to improve the overall effectiveness and capability of the department.

  • Update job knowledge by studying trends and developments in quality management; participate in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks and participate in professional organizations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

 

Manage 5 to 20 employees engaged in inspection, audits, testing activities and corrective actions to ensure continuous control over material status and conformance to specifications and procedures. These personnel may be over several shifts.

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university; or minimum 8 years years experience in quality assurance/engineering with at least 3 years of management experiance or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills            

 

Ability to communicate and present information to various levels of the organization bilingual in Spanish desirable but not required.

 

Mathematical Skills

 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Other Qualifications

 

  • Familiar with quality systems such as ISO, QS9000, PPAP.
  • Familiar with metrology and measuring techniques.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to create histograms and Cpk studies for process and part capability studies.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to travel when required.  Less than 10% travel.
