Summary

 

Lead and execute quality activities to support the manufacturing, assembly and packaging of products in their area of responsibility; identify root cause and drive effective corrective action with cross functional groups across the organization, including but not limited to: Manufacturing, R&D, Fabrication, Packaging, and Distribution, with the objective to improve the Quality of the Manufacturing Processes at Weber, and the aim to improve the KPI performance. Influences and Ensures compliance to the Weber Quality System and applicable industry standards (locally and internationally) related to the product/area of responsibility.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Represent the Quality Department at the company sites for all designated functions, activities and tasks.
  • Responsible for quality execution throughout the supply chain (incoming and in-process inspection)
  • Lead problem solving activities to ensure effectiveness of the quality system (root cause, containment, corrective and preventive actions) associated with Manufacturing Quality:
    • First Pass Yield improvement projects and actions within the area of responsibility.
    • Continuous improvement initiatives and designated projects
    • Scrap analysis process and the actions defined to improve its performance.
  • Ensure compliance to the Manufacturing Quality documentation: Process Flow, Control Plan, P-FMEA, Standardized Work Instructions, Flip-Charts, etc.
    • Lead and coordinate updates with the responsible entities.
  • Lead and/or Support Structured Problem-Solving methodology and tools.
  • Coordinate with the Quality laboratory for activities related to ensuring compliance to the components, product and process requirements in the manufacturing.
  • Support production process and sub-assembly process capability studies, quality audits, data reviews, and other engineering evaluations utilizing MSA, pPCA, and Six Sigma analysis tools for process control.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Quality Engineering to ensure quality of material is met and NCR, SCARs and improvement actions are completed on time.
  • Participate and facilitate the standardization of manufacturing processes within the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance to defined audit structure and closure of findings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned or delegated by manager/management as part of the scope of the job.

Education and/or Experience

 

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years working in a Quality role in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in problem solving techniques including root cause identification and corrective action implementation (8D, Ishikawa, 5W, 5S).
  • Demonstrated understanding of part prints, measurement techniques and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with FMEA, Control Plan, Statistical Process Control and PPAP.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
