Summary

 

This hands-on position is responsible for ALL aspects of ensuring equipment readiness.

Ensures that ALL building equipment and related operating systems function to spec, constantly striving for zero downtime. A proactive control systems technician support role for manufacturing operation, focusing on equipment troubleshooting, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of various automated production equipment such as conveyors, robotic system, scanners, cameras, robotic welding system, HMI systems, and control cabinets.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned

 

  • Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair automation and robotic machinery using PLC programs.
  • Maintain material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem areas
  • Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other defects
  • Removes and replaces worn or defective parts. Fills our out repair reports for supervisor
  • Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair to verify success of repair.
  • Repairs/replaces broken parts.
  • Assists engineering and production teams as an information resource and or hands on via internal services request.
  • Provides regular updates to Maintenance Management / Supervision regarding status of projects and assignments

Qualifications

•    Systems controls knowledge or programming experience

•    Field service engineering experience

•    Systems trainer or training experience

•    Experience supporting a wide range of different conveyors and sortation systems

•    Experience with advanced automation controls systems

•    Experience with industrial robotics

•    Project management experience

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or at least three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred associates degree.
  • 5 + years automation technician experience.
  • Robotics programming (Fanuc).

 

Language Skills

 

Ability to read and interpret documents (in provided format) such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

 

Reasoning Ability

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Trade Certificates preferred or 5 years of related work.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

 

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of computer operating systems such as but not limited to PC Windows.  This will be and ongoing training process internal and external training.
